Customizing Rights Messages
Customize the message templates you send to Instagram creators when requesting permission to use their content.
Access message templates
To edit your rights request messages:
Log into your Curator dashboard
Edit your message template
Save your changes
Your updated template will be used for all future rights requests sent via the Chrome extension.
What to include
An effective rights request message should:
Introduce yourself or your brand
Explain why you want to feature their content
Clearly state how their content will be used (website, event display, etc.)
Provide simple approval instructions (tag your account + use the hashtag)
Be friendly and respectful of their work
Keep your message concise. Instagram comments have character limits, and shorter requests are more likely to get responses.
Required elements
Your message must include:
Approval instructions - Tell the creator to tag your Instagram account and use the monitoring hashtag
The monitoring hashtag - This is how Curator detects approvals (e.g., #curatorapproved)
Don't remove the monitoring hashtag from your template. Without it, Curator can't detect when creators approve your request.
Preview before sending
When using the Chrome extension, you can review and adjust the message before posting it to Instagram. This lets you personalize individual requests while keeping your base template consistent.
