Curating Content

Why isn’t my Instagram carousel posts showing correctly?

Curator supports pulling Instagram carousel-type posts, including carousel posts that contain a mix of images and videos.

However, some carousel posts with videos may not appear exactly the same way they do on Instagram.

Curator only display the post's information that Instagram or Meta's API provides when the post is pulled into your Feed.

What you may notice

Depending on how the Instagram carousel was created, you may see one of the following:

  • The first image appears as the carousel thumbnail.

  • A video plays, but it may not appear as a separate carousel item.

  • The carousel dots may not match each image or video exactly.

  • Only the first video in the carousel appears in Curator.

  • A carousel made up of multiple videos may appear as a single video post.

When this can happen

This can happen when an Instagram carousel includes videos, such as:

Image → Image → Video → Image

Image → Video → Image → Image

Video → Video → Video

Image-only carousel posts should display normally.

Why this happens

Instagram does not always provide each video in a carousel as a separate playable carousel item when the post is pulled into your Feed.

Because of this, Curator may only be able to display the available video information provided by Instagram.

Best practice

For the best result, place the video first in your Instagram carousel.

Example:

Video → Image → Image

This helps Curator display the video more reliably.

Important note

If your Instagram carousel contains multiple videos, Curator may only display the first video.

To show multiple videos in Curator, we recommend publishing each video as a separate Instagram post.
