Connecting Social Accounts

Resolving Connection Problems

Connection problems prevent Curator from accessing your social accounts. Most issues resolve by disconnecting and reconnecting with the correct permissions.

General Connection Issues

Connection Expired

Social platforms may require periodic re-authorization. When a connection expires, all sources using that connection stop updating.

Solution:

  1. Go to Settings > Social Connections (https://app.curator.io/company/connections)

  2. Find the expired connection

  3. Click Reconnect

  4. Ensure you're logged into the correct social account in your browser

  5. Grant all permissions

For Facebook and Instagram: If both are connected in Social Connections, reconnect both accounts when you reconnect one to keep permissions synchronized.

Network-Specific Troubleshooting

Instagram (via Facebook)

Instagram connection powers Instagram Business Account, Hashtag, Mentions, Tagged/Collab Posts and Stories sources.

Steps to resolve:

  1. Go to Settings > Social Connections

  2. Click Disconnect on the problematic connection (skip if already disconnected)

  3. Click Reconnect or Add Connection > Instagram via Facebook

Instagram Business Accounts must be linked to a Facebook page. Since Instagram is owned by Meta, any connection to an Instagram Business account must go through a Facebook account that is an administrator of the linked Facebook Page. This means, you'll authorize Curator using your personal Facebook account.

  4. Click Continue with Facebook to redirect to Facebook— Make sure you're logged in to the same Facebook account you are reconnecting.

  5. Click Edit access in the Facebook dialog

  6. In Edit requested access:

    • Select all Instagram Business Accounts you want to use

    • Select their associated Facebook pages (each Instagram Business Account must be linked to a Facebook page)

    • Enable all permissions

  7. Close the window (click X)

  8. Click Continue as [your name] to return to Curator

  9. If the associated Facebook account is also listed in Social Connections, reconnect it via Add Connection > Facebook to update and sync the permissions

Facebook

Facebook connection powers both Facebook Page and Facebook Page Mentions sources.

Steps to resolve:

  1. Go to Settings > Social Connections

  2. Click Disconnect on the Facebook connection

  3. Click Add Connection > Facebook— Make sure you're logged in to the same Facebook account you are reconnecting.

  4. Click Edit access in the permission dialog

  5. Select all Facebook pages and Instagram Business Accounts you want to access

  6. Enable all permissions

  7. Click Continue

If you manage sources that use Instagram via Facebook linked to the Facebook account you are reconnecting, reconnect it after reconnecting Facebook to keep permissions synchronized.
